Counselling Course Requirements

Admission Interview
Admission into Counselling awards is subject to an online interview. ACOM staff will contact you to arrange a suitable time.

Insurance
Students who are practicing in a volunteer student capacity as part of the requirements of their counselling unit/s will be covered under ACOM’s insurance. However, if you are practicing counselling in a paid capacity, or volunteer capacity outside of your accredited studies with ACOM, you will need to source your own insurance and professional membership. This can be discussed when you have your pre-enrolment counselling interview.

Covid-19
Covid-19 vaccination may be required for students undertaking placements. Students must provide proof of vaccination in accordance with any mandate that applies to their sector (eg. Counselling, Aged Care, Healthcare, Disability Care etc.) directly to the placement.

Working with Children Check
Students studying Counselling awards may need their state equivalent of a working with children check (organised and funded by students). Please check your unit requirements to ensure you have your documentation prior to undertaking these units.

Policies and Student Declaration

Withdrawals and Refund Policy

Students may withdraw from course units without academic penalty only if notice of withdrawal is submitted in writing to the Registrar before 4.00 pm of the Census Date applicable to the course unit in question. If withdrawal occurs up to 4.00 pm on the Census Date the tuition fee will be refunded but a withdrawal penalty will be charged to the student and is payable immediately. Beyond this time, tuition fees will not be refunded. See the Sydney College of Divinity Refund Policy for further details. If the Sydney College of Divinity Member Institution defaults in delivery of course units or awards the arrangements set out in the Sydney College of Divinity Refund Policy apply.
