Church planting is a key part of church life, evangelism, and mission. This unit will explore the missional, biblical and theological foundations of church planting and equip students for a role in a church plant.

At the end of this unit students will be able to:

  1. Explain the biblical and missiological foundations of church planting.
  2. Identify key themes related to the practice of church-planting.
  3. Examine various church planting models with particular reference to church planting in the local context.
  4. Explain the importance of evangelism for a Church planting team.
  5. Identify and explain an evangelistic strategy of a specific Church Plant.

Admittedly, at first I was nervous about the prospect of Spiritual Formation and what might be involved. But after my first Spiritual Formation retreat, Spiritual Formation very quickly became one of my favourite subjects, and created some of my fondest memories throughout my years studying with ACOM. The relationships I built and the journey I went on with my formation companions, has left a profound impact on my faith, the shaping of who I am, how I lead and my continued involvement in ministry today.
