Unit Details

This unit aims to develop students through achieving advanced competencies in counselling practice.

At the end of this unit students will be able to:

  1. Analyse their values, beliefs and understanding of ethical responsibilities in the context of a counselling agency or other professional setting.
  2. Critically evaluate psychological theories relative to their own worldview and evolve and articulate a systematic personal approach to counselling and psychotherapy in the context of their professional practice.
  3. Exhibit integrity in their professional counselling practice through active commitment to ongoing supervision.
  4. Maintain respectful working relationships demonstrating understanding of cultural and gender diversity and disability.
  5. Evaluate and justify their counselling practice with clients in professional settings requiring technical knowledge and skills for designing creative initiatives that match the needs of clients.

 

Studying this unit will enable students to engage in deeper reflection on different areas of their life and practice as a professional counsellor.
